Rachel Hames is the owner and operator of Bark-O-Lounger Grooming and has been grooming dogs all her adult life,since 1983. Born and raised in New York, Rachel has had an affinity for animals since she was a young girl.
At the tender age of 23,she opened her own grooming salon,Dog Grooming by Rachel, Inc. She worked tirelessly for sixteen years,building a large high volume salon with an impeccable reputation.So successful in fact that when she sold the business in 2004,the owners kept the original salon name in hopes of being associated with a name that was known widely in the Long Island,NY,grooming industry.It is still in operation to this day! Rachel took some time off to get her Bachelor in Fine Art degree,but re-entered the pet care industry in 2012 when she opened her Pet Sitting business in Rincon,GA. Three years later, Rachel moved to Columbia and began working out of a salon in Lexington.Two more years passed and she decided it was time to once again be an entrepreneur. After renting a booth in Irmo for two years, she finally felt ready to once again open her own salon in West Columbia. The venture has surpassed all expectation and the salon is as busy as ever! |
